Roadblock: End of the Line Preview & Predictions

wrestling

Tomorrow night, Monday Night Raw host its last Pay-Per-View of the year, Roadblock: End of the Line. We have a decent card ahead of us, headlined by Sasha Banks facing Charlotte in an Iron Man match, as well as United States Champion Roman Reigns facing Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Let’s take a look at the card and try to predict the winners.

Big Cass vs. Rusev
This is the weirdest setup to a match that Raw has had in a while. Enzo Amore was locked out of his dressing room without his clothes, and ran into Lana. Rusev didn’t like this, then beat up Amore in a quick match. Amore then tried to hit on Lana, and Lana baited him into going to her hotel room. When Amore got there, Rusev beat him up and the Bulgarian/Russian married couple showed Amore what happens when he hits on a married woman. After seeing the assault, Big Cass wants to avenge his longtime buddy.

Prediction:
Man, this is strange. I’ll go with who should win, and that’s the man defending who is actually doing the right thing in this scenario. Winner: Rusev

Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman
Sami Zayn challenged SmackDown’s Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, for the title at Survivor Series. Zayn failed to bring the belt to Raw, so Mick Foley put him in a match against Braun Strowman as punishment. Zayn got destroyed, and has kept trying to defeat Strowman, but he has had no luck. After weeks of trying to convince Mick Foley to give him another chance, Zayn finally has another match against Braun Strowman.

Prediction:
All Sami Zayn has to do to impress Mick Foley is to survive. He doesn’t have to defeat Braun Strowman, and he probably won’t. Winner: Braun Strowman

Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho has been a thorn in Seth Rollins’ side since Rollins first challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Jericho has interfered in any opportunity for Rollins to win the belt, and now that Owens is defend the belt against Reigns, Rollins can finally deal with Jericho before he makes his way towards Triple H.

Prediction:
About a month ago, Seth Rollins defeated Jericho several weeks in a row. There is no reason that can’t happen again here. Winner: Seth Rollins

Rich Swann (c) vs. Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins – WWE Cruiserweight Championship
On the debut episode of 205 Live, Rich Swann captured the Cruiserweight Championship from Brian Kendrick. The following week, Kendrick would cash in his rematch clause, but TJ Perkins ended up getting involved to ruin a clean finish. Kendrick now has another chance at the belt, and Perkins somehow earned the title shot as well.

Prediction:
Since Swann just won the Cruiserweight Championship a few weeks ago, it would make no sense for him to drop it here. Swann is someone who can be the face of the division for a while, while Kendrick and Perkins help add depth to Raw and 205 Live.

The New Day (c) vs. Cesaro & Sheamus – Raw Tag Team Championships
The New Day successfully defended their Tag Team Championships twice last Monday, subsequently becoming the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. On Wednesday’s Tribute to the Troops show, Cesaro and Sheamus won a #1 Contender’s match to get yet another opportunity for the gold.

Prediction:
Now that Cesaro and Sheamus are on the same page, they could be unstoppable. Now that their new found friendship isn’t weighed down by Gallows and Anderson also being in the match, there is a very real chance that New Day can finally lose the titles. Winners: Cesaro & Sheamus

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Roman Reigns – WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns is the United States Champion. Roman Reigns doesn’t care that he’s the United States Champion, so he wants to be the WWE Universal Champion. Reigns defeated Owens in a non-title match to become the #1 Contender, and he now has the chance to hold two belts.

Prediction:
The best way for this match to end is for both Owens and Reigns to stay as credible as they were when they entered the match. The only way I can see this happening is by Reigns winning the match, but in a way (disqualification or count-out) where Owens can keep the Universal Championship. Winner: Roman Reigns

Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte – Raw Women’s Championship (30-Minute Iron Man Match)
This is it, according to WWE. The feud between Sasha Banks and Charlotte goes back to the beginning of the summer, and after flip-flopping the Raw Women’s Championship five times in just a few months, this match finally concludes their rivalry. Banks and Charlotte compete in an Iron Man match, the same type of match that Banks had against Bayley last fall right before she left NXT for good. It will be one last bit of history before the champion moves on to a new challenger.

Prediction:
In eight short months, both Charlotte and Sasha Banks have become three-time Raw Women’s Champions. It is way too soon in this title’s history for someone to become a four-time champion, and Charlotte has earned some well-deserved rest. Winner: Sasha Banks
