Indiana Pacers at San Antonio Spurs Betting Prediction

The Pacers failed to cover as 2-point underdogs in their 101-91 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last outing. The combined points for the game (192) came in well under the O/U total of 229. Converting at the free throw line was one of Minnesota’s largest strengths. They were 22-24 (91.7 percent), while the Pacers were just 11-16 (68.8 percent). Victor Oladipo led Indiana in scoring with 20 points on 8-for-23 shooting.

In the Spurs’ last game, they edged the Los Angeles Lakers, 143-142, despite being 1.5-point underdogs. The game’s total points (285) were well over the O/U total of 226.5. The Spurs had a much better free throw rate (0.289 vs. 0.168) and had a better turnover percentage (7.3 vs. 11.2). LaMarcus Aldridge led San Antonio in scoring with 37 points on 13-for-22 shooting.

Half-court execution will be critical when two of the NBA’s slowest-paced teams clash. San Antonio ranks 30th in possessions per game (97.0) and Indiana is 27th (97.7) dating back to the 2017-18 season. Additionally, the Pacers rank 25th in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.172), while the Spurs rank fourth in opponents’ FTA rate (0.173).

Since last season, the Pacers are 50-36 straight up (SU) and 43-45-2 against the spread (ATS). Just over half of Indiana games have finished over the O/U total since last season.

Meanwhile, the Spurs, are 49-36 SU and 52-47-2 ATS since last season. San Antonio’s games have gone over the projected point total 57.4 percent of the time over that same time frame.

The Pacers won both contests against the Spurs last season. In the most recent contest, Indiana won 94-86. Indiana did an excellent job of converting from the charity stripe (16-17; 94.1 percent). San Antonio, on the other hand, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (22.7 vs. 16.3).
