Jordan Gets Extension, Ramsey Doesn’t and More

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Jordan won’t suit up for a different team anytime soon. The Pro Bowl defensive end reached an agreement on a three-year extension with the New Orleans Saints that will keep him in the black and gold through the 2023 season. The deal is worth $52.5 million with $42 million in guaranteed cash. With incentives, it could be worth as much as $55 million. Last season Jordan recorded 49 tackles, 18 for a loss, six passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 12 sacks.

No extension this year for Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey at least isn’t mad about it. With two years left on his rookie contract, the star Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback was told his extension would not be coming this season. Ramsey told reporters he’s “not down or anything” about waiting on his big money contract. He’s due to make $3.634 million this season and $13.7 million in 2020 on his fifth-year rookie option. Last year Ramsey recorded 65 tackles, two for a loss, three interceptions and 13 passes defended.

Aldon Smith arrested again

Troubled NFL defensive end Aldon Smith has once again run afoul of the law. The former first round pick of the San Francisco 49ers was arrested Monday night on suspension of driving under the influence in Kansas. Smith hasn’t played in the NFL since 2015 with the Oakland Raiders.
