Lions Cut Tulloch; Is Russell Wilson in Danger?

Tulloch's time in Detroit comes to an end.

Stephen Tulloch’s offseason on the couch just got made permanent. The Detroit Lions announced they cut the 10-year veteran middle linebacker after he officially failed his physical Tuesday. Tulloch had offseason surgery for an injury he hasn’t revealed, but that’s not why the Lions set him free. Cutting Tulloch frees up $5.5 million in salary cap money for Detroit.

The surgery is the second for Tulloch in a little over a year. In 2014 he tore his ACL while celebrating sacking quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Which is still funny today.

He played in all 16 games for the Lions last season, recording 74 tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and one pass defended.

The Lions plan on replacing Tulloch with Tahir Whitehead, a fifth-year player out of Temple and a former fifth-round pick. Last year Whitehead had 50 tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery, one pick and six passes defended.

For Tulloch this could be the end of the line, depending on how quickly he can heal up from whatever his offseason surgery turns out to be. If he does continue to play, don’t be surprised to see a reunion with Jeff Fisher in Los Angeles or a return to the Tennessee Titans where Tulloch played his first five seasons.

Did Future threaten Russell Wilson in a rap song?

Before last year when he made news complaining about Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson being around his kid, I had no idea a human being that called himself Future even existed. I now look back at those days with a painful regret of an innocence forever lost.

Anyway, here’s the whole stupid soap opera that Wilson is dealing with. Ciara, Wilson’s fiance, was knocked up by Future and had his baby, Future Jr. (for real, the kid’s name is Future too) in 2014. They broke up and she started seeing Wilson. The two fell in love and when Future (the dad) saw Wilson walking around pushing his kid in a stroller, he got a little pissed. And when rappers get pissed sometimes they get all shooty.

But Future made a mistake if he really was planning on popping the non-proverbial cap in Wilson as he outlined his scheme in a song titled “Juice” about O.J. Simpson? Here it is.

Now Future’s rap style is hard to understand as he sounds like he just left the dentist after getting his wisdom teeth cut out, but here’s the lyric that had Ciara a little worried.

“Tryna f–k my baby mama, dog, what’s up with you? You gon’ make me get that heat. I’m pulling up on you.”

In Wilson’s defense, I don’t think he’s trying to sex up Ciara as he’s publicly called for prayer help to stay out of her pants. Still, the implication is clear, even if the rapper spouting the lyrics isn’t, that Future is threatening to shoot Russell Wilson in a drive by.

Ciara recently sued Future for defamation and, in court documents, mentions the threat to Wilson in the song.

Should Wilson be worried? Probably not. Future’s wikipedia page is painfully absent of arrests and trouble with the law which should really hurt his credibility in the rap game.

Tom Brady deflates Donald Trump’s hopes

Donald Trump keeps dropping names of famous sports figures he plans on getting to speak at the Republic National Convention for his nomination and they keep telling him to cram it. A few weeks ago it was Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that informed Trump that he would be skipping the convention. Tuesday it was New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s turn.

Brady was busted with a Trump hat in his locker last year and called Trump a “friend.” But evidently he’s not that good a friend as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Roethlisberger was more emphatic with his denial of Trump, saying he would not attend the convention or endorse the candidate. Evidently Trump thinks if he met a guy one time they’re best friends.

Trump also wanted UFC president Dana White and former Indiana basketball coach Bob Knight to speak at the convention. Knight is just enough of a douchebag to do it.
