Ndamukong Suh Signs with Rams; Is Odell Beckham Jr. Next?

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

General Manager Les Snead continues to build his Madden 19 franchise in real life with the Los Angeles Rams. Just moments ago word hit that the Rams had reached a one-year deal with free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh that will add him to one of the league’s best defenses.

Suh’s deal with the Rams is for $14 million with at least $10 million guaranteed. Somewhere L.A. defensive coordinator Wade Phillips just rubbed his hands together like an evil genius in a James Bond movie.

Suh was courted hard over the last week by the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and New York Jets. The Oakland Raiders were also in the mix, but once Suh visited Los Angeles and met with Snead and head coach Sean McVay, he cancelled his trip to Northern California.

Suh will now plug in on a three-man front with fellow first round picks Michael Brockers and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. No quarterback or running back is safe.

Last season with the Miami Dolphins, the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro recorded 48 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes defended. Miami, who signed Suh to a six-year, $114 million contract in 2015, decided they wanted the cap money more than his production so they set him loose early in the free agency period.

Suh has been one of the best defensive players in the league since the Detroit Lions drafted him No. 2 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. His 51.5 sacks are the second highest total for a defensive tackle in that span.

RAMS NOT DONE?

On the same day the Rams would ink Suh to join their defensive front, rumblings hit the league that they were in serious talks with the New York Giants to acquire wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

According to multiple reports, the Giants are willing to move Beckham for a first round pick plus some extra compensation. The Rams pick at No. 23 in April’s NFL Draft, but there’s no way they’d select any player that would be as dynamic as OBJ with that selection.

Beckham’s value to the Giants took a hit when a video of him enjoying a young lady’s company as she appeared to be sorting and prepping a white powder. There was also a pizza present if anyone cares about that.

Los Angeles has made a flurry of moves this offseason, trading away Robert Quinn and Alec Ogletree while acquiring Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. They also restructured former first round pick Tavon Austin’s contract to make it more palatable. There’s a good chance he’s involved in any trade talks with the Giants and OBJ.
