NFL Betting: Week 2 Look-ahead Lines

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

While most of us are focused on handicapping the Week 1 lines in front of us, we’ve got our eye to the future. We’re taking an early look at the Week 2 look-ahead lines as it’s important to keep them in mind in terms of where they open and how they’ll shift around. What we see in Week 1 might changes these openers drastically.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the Week 2 look-ahead lines:

Los Angeles Chargers -3.5 at Buffalo Bills

The Chargers are a favorite in Buffalo but it’ll be interesting to see if this line climbs higher. The Bills are a big dog in Baltimore in Week 1 and they’re starting Nathan Peterman at quarterback. A shaky outing from him could push this higher.

Baltimore Ravens -1 at Cincinnati Bengals

This is an early AFC North matchup that could have major playoff implications later in the season. The Ravens are a small favorite in Cincinnati but much of that will depend on if the Ravens can carry over their strong preseason into the regular season.

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons -5.5

The Panthers open as a sizable dog in Atlanta and part of that has to do with the fact that the Falcons will have 10 days to prepare. The Falcons visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football in Week 1.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers -2.5

This is an early showdown of the top teams in the NFC North. The quarterbacks are the story as Aaron Rodgers is going up against one of the league’s strongest defenses, while the Vikings are hoping that Kirk Cousins can lead them to wins in big games such as this.

Cleveland Browns at New Orleans Saints -9

The Browns are still viewed as a doormat but a quality effort – or a win – in Week 1 at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers could have a big impact on this betting line.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets -1

The Dolphins are viewed as one of the weakest teams in the NFL. They’re slated to be a dog against a Jets team with a rookie quarterback, Sam Darnold, who will be making his first home start.

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5

Patrick Mahomes is a wild card as of right now so what we see from him in Week 1 against the Chargers could change this line.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Philadelphia Eagles -6

The Bucs will once again be without Jameis Winston in this contest. While the Eagles will start Nick Foles in Week 1, we’ll have to see if Carson Wentz returns for Week 2. That will likely bump this line higher if he does.

Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans PICK

How these teams perform in Week 1 is likely to have a big impact here. The Texans are a road dog in New England while the Titans are a road favorite in Miami. If the Texans keep it close and the Titans struggle, we could see Houston emerge as the favorite. Or if the opposite is true, the Titans might get pushed up.

New England Patriots -2 at Jacksonville Jaguars

A rematch of the AFC Championship Game will be one of the most intriguing contests of Week 2. The Jaguars were one quarter away from winning in New England. Now they’ll get to host this year’s matchup.

Rest Of The Week 2 Look-ahead Lines

Indianapolis Colts at Washington Redskins -2.5

Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers -3

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams -10.5

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos -3

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys -3.5

Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears -1
