Talk ‘n’ Shoot Podcast: Part III Of Our Greatest Boxer Of All-Time Debate

The Talk ‘n’ Shoot podcast is back with the ongoing “Greatest Boxer of All-Time” podcast.  For this third podcast of the series, we are joined by Dave Siderski of “Mythical Boxing” who takes the sixteen fighters selected through a simulation, as we work our way down to eight men.

The discussion centers around the following bracket of all-time great boxers with a pound-for-pound classification .

Big men:  Joe Louis vs Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali vs Gene Tunney, Ezzard Charles vs Archie Moore, Sam Langford vs Harry Greb

Little men:  Willie Pep vs Tony Canzoneri,  Joe Gans vs Roberto Duran, Henry Armstrong vs Kid Chocolate, Mickey Walker vs Sugar Ray Robinson

Siderski brings a mathematical approach to the fantasy tournament, and the discussion includes aspects of match-making and setting up a tournament, as the X-factors change if the tournament is held all in one day or spread out over time.  The results would also change completely if the pound-for-pound setting that equalizes the weight of the men was turned off.

Nevertheless, of the 16 men matched up above, after this podcast there will be only eight left.  Who will it be?

Also, if your just catching this series, you can listen to “The Greatest Boxer of All-Time” Part 1 here, and Part II here.  For future podcasts the discussion will continue on the field of eight men, it will be interesting to see how the match-ups develop and who goes on to win the tournament.

Take a listen to Talk ‘n’ Shoot’s third installment of the “Greatest Boxer of All-Time” podcast.
