UFC 222 Undercard Odds – The UFC 222 PPV ocmes to us live from Las Vegas this Saturday, and as usual, the undercard is set to air on Fox Sports 1.
The FS1 broadcast is expected to end with ladies action as strawweights Ashley Yoder and Mackenzie Dern meet in the “headline” spot.
Dern is just 24 years old and thusfar, she is a perfect 5-0 in MMA. Dern is a grappling stud, having won world championships in that and in the ADCC grappling tourney and her pedigree cannot be questioned. Her father is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt “Megaton” Diaz so you can say that she was born into this. She is not in the title picture just yet butshe is on her way. Recently the division has been dominated by strikers, led by Poland’s rugged Joanne Jedrezcyzyk and current champion Rose Namajunas so Dern’s grappling heavy style will make for interesting future match-ups.
Dern has to perform this Saturday against Yoder, who entered the UFC with a 5-1 record and is now 5-3 overall. Yoder, who figts under the nickname “The Spider Monkey” is known for making fights entertaining but she needs a win more than anything. Yoder is 0-2 in her UFC fights and going 0-3 is not good for longevity with the company.
Former flyweight contender John Dodson (19-9) returns for his second fight at bantamweight as he faces Pedro Munhoz (16-2). Munhoz has put together a solid 5-2 record in the UFC with one no contest, so this will be his ninth fight with the “big show.” He has not faced anyone with the overall skill package that Dodson presents but Munhoz is rugged and tough and he may be able to slow down Dodson with a grinding game.
Middleweights Hector Lombard and CB Dolloway also collide on the FS1 broadcast. Once one of the top contenders in the middleweight division and also at welterweight, Lombard is on the brink of being shown the door by the UFC. Lombard has lost four fights in a row and the fight prior to that was turned to a no contest due to a failed PED test. To boot, Lombard is now 40 years old so the end is not far for the big Cuban.
Dolloway snapped a three fight losing streak with a win over Ed Herman in his last outing. At 34 years old, he needs to start building up momentum. Against Lombard he is going to be on the recieving end of a bum rush as the fight opens. As Lombard tires, Dolloway is going to have to basically avoid getting hit by Lombard’s Sunday shot.
