Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London proposed to longtime girlfriend Sofia Gabay with Taco Bell as part of a staged dinner at a desert ranch in Los Angeles, the couple said. The two became engaged July 2, the same date London first asked Gabay out three years earlier, according to the couple.
London recalled that on their second date Gabay told him it would be a “dream” to be proposed to with a meal from the Mexican-inspired fast-food chain, and he kept that detail in mind when planning the proposal, according to the couple.
The evening began at the ranch, where the pair petted alpacas; Gabay said in an Instagram video that she has “a crazy obsession with alpacas.” London then asked Gabay to change into a dress and heels he had left for her, the same dress she had seen months earlier and said she would wear if he ever proposed. She said she began crying after reading the note.
London waited at an outdoor table with the engagement ring and a Taco Bell spread that included Crunchwrap Supremes, a Cheesy Gordita Crunch and the chain’s hot sauce. “She was actually more stoked about the Taco Bell than the ring,” London said Thursday after Falcons practice. Gabay said yes.
The Taco Bell items served as an appetizer before the couple drove to Nobu in Malibu to finish the night. London said he hopes the wedding will be July 2, 2027, to make their anniversary easier to remember. When asked about a potential sponsorship, London said, “We’re working on it … Taco Bell is kind of tough.”
