LIVERPOOL

The Reds suffered a massive, 1:4 loss to Tottenham at Wembley and ended their five-match streak without defeat, so they are now in the 9th position in the Premier League with 13 points, even 12 behind the league leaders Man City. Dejan Lovren’s two horrible mistakes helped Spurs to take an early 2-0 lead, and although Mohamed Salah managed to pull one back, Dele Alli’s goal in the dying moment of the first half pretty much sealed Liverpool’s fate. Jurgen Klopp men must start playing better in the defense or else this season will be a colossal failure for Liverpool. They are welcoming Huddersfield and are desperate for the first victory in the Premier League since September.

Liverpool has played 15 games so far in the 2017/18, recording six wins, six draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of 30:24, which is 3.6 goals per contest on average. When it comes to home matches, the Reds are without a defeat as they won four and drew three, so the visitors will have a mountain to climb to get a positive result at Anfield on Saturday.

The Egyptian hero Mohamed Salah is the team’s top scorer with nine goals in 14 appearances, while Roberto Firmino with six, and Philippe Coutinho with four are following him on the goal-scoring chart. Firmino is the most creative individual in the squad with four assists to his name thus far, while Coutinho and Salah have three dishes a piece. Adam Lallana is close to returning to the pitch as he’s recovering from a thigh injury, but I don’t think he will feature on this one. Sadio Mane (hamstring) and Nathaniel Clyne (back) are still out and could be back at some point in November. Georginio Wijnaldum is fit to face Huddersfield as he recovered from a slight knee injury that forced him to miss a tilt at Wembley.

HUDDERSFIELD

The Terriers ended the negative run of six Premier League matches without a win with a surprising 2:1 victory over Manchester United at John Smith’s Stadium last weekend, and now they are in the 11th place with only a point behind Liverpool. The first half goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre gave Huddersfield a huge 2-0 lead, and although Marcus Rashford clawed one back, the hosts collected all three points and shocked Jose Mourinho and United.

Huddersfield played 11 games in this campaign, recording four wins, three draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 9:12, which is 1.9 goals per contest on average. The away form is the biggest problem for David Wagner’s men as they are without a victory in the last four as they also failed to score a single goal in that span, so it’s going to be interesting to see whether they’re able to get one past Mignolet’s back and struggling Liverpool defense.

Laurent Depoitre, Aaron Mooy, and Steve Mounie are the team’s top scorers with a couple of goals apiece, but inefficiency is Wagner’s biggest worry thus far, so scoring two against the best defense in the league is certainly encouraging. The centre-back Michael Hefele (Achilles tendon), midfielder Kasey Palmer (hamstring), and defender Jon Gorenc-Stankovic (cruciate ligaments) are all unavailable for this duel.

Liverpool vs. Huddersfield – Match Prediction

The Reds are the big favorites, and I believe they can get a win comfortably, but a special relationship and close friendship of Klopp and Wagner could play a significant role here. Still, Liverpool should perform well at home following a disappointing loss to Spurs, and I think they will deliver. My safer pick is to go with the over.

MY PICK: Over 3 goals (-120)

                                                                         Watford vs. Stoke City

Three-Way: 1: Watford +119; X: +270 Draw; 2: Stoke City +275

Spread -0.5: Watford +112; Stoke City -118

Total +2.5: Over +100; Under -103

WATFORD

The Hornets are still the most pleasant surprise of this Premier League season despite the latest 2:4 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Watford even had a 2:1 lead at some point and displayed an admirable performance, but Richarlison’s missed chances haunted them later in the match. The Brazilian could finish off the hosts but failed to convert his opportunities, so the Blues turned the game around and secured the victory. Still, Watford is in the 6th position with 15 points, seven more than Stoke and are slight favorites in this tilt.

Watford played ten games this season, recording four wins, three draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of 17:20, which is 3.7 goals per contest on average. The Hornets have only one home victory in five outings, and they lost the previous two to the Potters at Vicarage Road, so this duel could turn out to be quite entertaining.

The midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is the team’s leading scorer with four goals in nine appearances; Richarlison has three, while Etienne Capoue scored two goals at the moment. The young Brazilian Richarlison is the best assist-maker with three dishes to his name, and he’s undoubtedly a talented player who will have a bright future in England, so the Potters should keep a close eye on him. Marco Silva has several injury-related concerns as he cannot count on Isaac Success (knee), Sebastian Prodl (hamstring), Younes Kaboul (thigh), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Craig Cathcart, and Tommie Hoban (cruciate ligament) who are all injured and out of contention for this encounter.

STOKE CITY

The Potters are not in good form at the moment as they won only one out of the last eight matches, and it’s no wonder why they are in the 17th position in the Premier League with eight points from nine games. Mark Hughes started to feel pressure, and a few more bad results will cost him a job, so he must turn the thing around quickly. Stoke conceded nine goals in the previous two games, and the recent 1:2 home defeat to Bournemouth hit fans more than a 2:7 meltdown at Etihad against Man City.

Stoke City played 11 games in the 2017/18 so far, recording three wins, two draws, and six losses, with a goal difference of 14:22, which is almost 3.3 goals per contest on average. The Potters have been awful away from bet365 Stadium as they lost four out of five matches, but the fact that they didn’t lose in the previous three visits to Vicarage Road is somewhat encouraging for them.

The veteran Peter Crouch and Mame Diouf are the team’s top scorers with three goals to their respective names, while Joe Allen and Eric Choupo Moting added a pair of goals apiece. Even five different players recorded a couple of assists thus far, but it seems that Stoke needs a leader who will guide them to the mid-table and safety. Steven Ireland will have to wait for another month as he’s recovering from a broken leg, while Bruno Martins Indi is out with a groin injury.

Watford vs. Stoke City – Match Prediction

Watford is surely a better team at the moment, but they are allowing a bunch of goals, and I think this tilt will provide plenty of action in front of both goalkeepers.

MY PICK: Both teams to score YES (-120)
