With only two more rounds to go, there are plenty of undecided things in the German Bundesliga, as six different teams are battling for the European football next season, while at the bottom, four clubs are still fighting against the relegation. We will take a closer look at the most intriguing games of the penultimate round set for this Saturday, May 5th, 2018, to present you the hottest betting trends and picks in the German Bundesliga at the moment.

Contents
  • DORTMUND vs. MAINZ
  • VfB STUTTGART vs. HOFFENHEIM
  • WERDER BREMEN vs. BAYER LEVERKUSEN
  • RB LEIPZIG vs. VFL WOLFSBURG
  • EINTRACHT FRANKFURT vs. HAMBURGER SV
  • BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH vs. SC FREIBURG

BUNDESLIGA BETTING TRENDS

  • The third-placed Dortmund (55 points), the fourth-placed Hoffenheim (52 points), and a fifth-placed Leverkusen (51 points) are all battling for the remaining two spots in the UEFA Champions League
  • The sixth-placed RB Leipzig (47 points), the seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt (46 points), the eighth-placed VfB Stuttgart (45 points), and a ninth-placed Monchengladbach (44 points) are all fighting for one UEFA Europa League spot
  • Hamburger SV (28 points), VFL Wolfsburg (30 points), SC Freiburg (33 points), and Mainz (33 points) are all fighting for survival, and the worst of them will be relegated, while the next one will play in the relegation playoff

German Bundesliga

DORTMUND vs. MAINZ

3-Way: 1: Dortmund -300; X: +460 Draw; 2: Mainz +820 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -1.5: Dortmund -108; Mainz -102

Total +3.5: Over +115; Under -135

Dortmund needs one more victory to clinch the UEFA Champions League spot for the next season, and they are huge favorites to win this clash, while Mainz desperately needs a positive result here to keep their advantage at the table ahead of VFL Wolfsburg who’ll have a tough task at Leipzig on this Saturday. The fans can expect to see a defensive approach by the visitors who were beaten at Signal Iduna Park in the previous five head-to-head duels.

The hosts should control the ball in the midfield, and it could leave some space for the counter-attacks, while the bookies set the market on both teams to score at -140. Dortmund has won four straight games on the home soil, keeping the clean sheet three times in a row, so I believe they will overcome Mainz on this one.

MY PICK: Dortmund AH -1.5 (-108)

VfB STUTTGART vs. HOFFENHEIM

3-Way: 1: VfB Stuttgart +230; X: +280 Draw; 2: Hoffenheim +115 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +0.5: VfB Stuttgart -125; Hoffenheim +115

Total +3: Over -108; Under -108

After two consecutive victories over Werder Bremen 2-0 at home, and Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 on the road, VfB Stuttgart joined the race for the UEFA Europa League spot, but they need three points out of this clash to keep their bid. The Swabians are unbeaten for six home games in a row, earning three wins and three draws in the process, and keeping their net intact on four occasions, while a strong defensive effort could be crucial against mighty Hoffenheim’s attack.

The visitors are playing in a fantastic form in the last couple of months, winning six out of their last nine matches along with three draws, while they’ve managed to score in 17 consecutive Bundesliga encounters. Hoffenheim needs a victory here to stay in front of Bayer Leverkusen, so they will probably continue with an attacking approach which promises a great match at Mercedes-Benz Arena this Saturday.

MY PICK: Over 3 Goals (-108)

WERDER BREMEN vs. BAYER LEVERKUSEN

3-Way: 1: Werder Bremen +285; X: +310 Draw; 2: Bayer Leverkusen -115 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +0.5: Werder Bremen +100; Bayer Leverkusen -115

Total +3: Over -135; Under +115

Bayer Leverkusen was beaten two times in a row, losing to Dortmund 4-0 on the road, and VfB Stuttgart 1-0 at home in the previous round of the German Bundesliga, so they’ve dropped to the fifth place of the table, one point behind Hoffenheim in the fourth, and four points behind Dortmund in the third place. Leverkusen will have to push forward at Bremen, as a potential draw or defeat could ruin their hopes of the UEFA Champions League.

On the other side, Werder Bremen is in the 12th spot of the Bundesliga table, eight points above the danger zone, so they can play in a relaxed manner until the end of the season. Werder Bremen is unbeaten in eleven consecutive Bundesliga games on the home soil, recording six wins and five stalemates, so they should be a difficult opponent to beat on this one, while the bookmakers favor both sides to find the net at -215.

MY PICK: Leverkusen to Win (-115)

RB LEIPZIG vs. VFL WOLFSBURG

3-Way: 1: RB Leipzig -160; X: +325 Draw; 2: VFL Wolfsburg +445 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -1: RB Leipzig +105; VFL Wolfsburg -120

Total +3: Over  +110; Under -130

With three defeats in the last four games and just one point earned, the Red Bulls from Leipzig have dropped to the sixth spot of the Bundesliga table, losing almost all their chances to play in the UEFA Champions League next season, as they are five points behind Hoffenheim in the fourth spot. However, RB Leipzig needs to put an end to this miserable streak if they want to preserve their current position and qualify for the Europa League, but the next opponent is a tricky one.

VFL Wolfsburg is in an unfavorable position, sitting at the 16th spot of the Bundesliga table that leads to the relegation playoff, while Hamburger SV is just two points behind them, so the Wolves desperately need a positive result against the Red Bulls. They had a lot of problems with finishing on the road this season, bagging just 12 goals in 16 matches so far, but the Wolves will have to score here if they want to get something out of this game. The first head-to-head duel of the season was ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

MY PICK: Both Teams to Score YES (-140)

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT vs. HAMBURGER SV

3-Way: 1: Eintracht Frankfurt -105; X: +285 Draw; 2: Hamburger SV +270 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -0.5: Eintracht Frankfurt -105; Hamburger SV -105

Total +2.5: Over -130; Under +110

The Eagles didn’t taste the win in five consecutive Bundesliga games, recording one draw and four losses in the process, so now even their Europa League spot is in jeopardy. They need to maintain their seventh position at the table if they want to play the European football next season, so the victory over Hamburger SV looks like a must.

On the other side, the Red Shorts are trying to avoid their first relegation since Bundesliga was established in 1963, and they just have to win this match. Hamburger SV has won three out of their last five encounters, including a brilliant 3-1 victory over VFL Wolfsburg on last weekend which was certainly a huge boost for their self-confidence. Eintracht Frankfurt won 2-1 the first head-to-head meeting of the season, while three out of the last five H2H duels were finished in a nil-nil draw.

MY PICK: Under 2.5 Goals (+110)

ADDITIONAL PICK: Hamburger SV to Win (+270)

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH vs. SC FREIBURG

3-Way: 1: Borussia Monchengladbach -120; X: +275 Draw; 2: SC Freiburg +335 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread -0.5: Borussia Monchengladbach -120; SC Freiburg +105

Total +2.5: Over -130; Under +110

The hosts are still in the race for the Europa League spot, but they need to win both remaining matches and hope their rivals will make some mistakes along the way. It seems like an impossible mission for the Foals who have won the previous two games on the home soil, beating Wolfsburg 3-0, and Hertha BSC 2-1, while they are unbeaten in the previous seven head-to-head meetings with SC Freiburg at home.

The visitors are three points above the danger zone at the moment, winning only one out of their previous five encounters, while on the road, they are winless in nine straight matches. Likewise, they couldn’t find the back of the net in the previous four games away from home, and improving their finishing is a must if they want to avoid the relegation.

MY PICK: Over 2.5 Goals (-130)
