Brees and the Saints have to play out the schedule tonight against the Lions.

There will likely be a moment, sometime in the third quarter, where we will all look at ourselves and wonder why the hell we’re watching this game. Ultimately here’s why. It’s NFL football and we’re going to miss it when it’s gone.

So here we all are, together, watching Mike Terico and Jon Gruden polish the turd that is the Detroit Lions (4-9) take on the New Orleans Saints (5-8). It’s happening. We’re about to watch it. Let’s just deal with  it together.

Scroll on down for the live blog. Keep reading for preview information.

First off here’s my pick from The FAQ.

Monday Night

Detroit at New Orleans (-3)
Another Monday night game that looks like it’ll be horrible. But these have actually paid off as good games lately. This one should be the same as both teams score somewhere around 100 points. Star Wars Spoiler: Old Spock again?? Saints 44, Lions 40

And here are my entries for both teams in the Power Rankings.

New Orleans Saints Logo17. New Orleans Saints – (5-8) The best thing the Sean Payton farewell tour can do is take a few bad coaches out with him as he goes. Jim Caldwell of the Lions is a good start this week. Last week: No. 21

Detroit Lions Logo29. Detroit Lions – (4-9) Two weeks ago the Lions were still talking playoffs. Time to just lay down and die. Where that poaching dentist when you need him? Last week: No. 28

The game is on ESPN and the schedule says 8:15 p.m. even though that’s always a lie. Let’s watch it anyway.
