Ugas replacing Barrios as opponent for Lara in tonight’s FS1 main event
Talented 147-pound contender Yordenis Ugas is stepping in to replace unbeaten prospect Mario Barrios in the main event of tonight’s fight card on FS1.
Ugas will now battle Nicaragua’s Nelson Lara (17-7-4, 9 KOs) tonight in the 10-round main event of a Premier Boxing Champions Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays card from the Fitz Tunica Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi (FS1, 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).
Yordenis Ugas (18-3, 8 KOs) stepped in to fight on one day’s notice after Lara was overweight for his scheduled 140-pound bout with Mario Barrios, who declined to go forward with the match. The bout between Ugas and Lara will now be contested at 154 pounds.
Televised coverage also features a matchup of exciting 147-pound prospects as 2012 Olympian Oscar Molina (13-1-1, 10 KOs) takes on Georgia’s Levan Ghvamichava (17-3-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-round showdown.
Ugas returned from a two-year layoff last August and has looked sensational in defeating undefeated prospects Jamal James by decision and Bryant Perrella by fourth-round stoppage. Most recently, Ugas earned a decision in an exciting clash with Ghvamichava on FS1 in February.
A highly decorated Cuban amateur, Ugas picked up a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics and owns gold medals from the 2005 World Amateur Championships and 2007 Pan American Games. Now fighting out of Miami, the 30-year-old looks to further establish his credentials for a world title shot.
Originally from Nicaragua but now fighting out of Costa Rica, Lara was unbeaten in 17 of his first 18 pro fights after turning pro in 2004. He enters this bout having won his last two contests by stoppage, including his most recent triumph in March.
Lara will fight in the U.S. for the third time as a pro in a career that has seen him enter the ring in six different countries.

The 21-year-old San Antonio native will get back in the ring on April 25 when he faces Nicaragua’s Nelson Lara in a 10-round bout that headlines an FS1 Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays card at the Fitz Tunica Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi.
Televised coverage (9 p.m ET/6 p.m. PT) also will include a 147-pound matchup set for 10 rounds between 2012 Olympian Oscar Molina (13-1-1, 10 KOs) and Levan Ghvamichava (17-3-1, 13 KOs).
After competing at 130 pounds for most of his pro career, Mario Barrios (18-0, 10 KOs) will be fighting at 140 for the second straight bout. In his last fight on March 4, he earned a sixth-round TKO of Yardley Suarez in Brooklyn, New York, on the Keith Thurman-Danny Garcia undercard.
After going 7-0 in 2015, Barrios remained perfect in three fights last year, including a unanimous decision over former 130-pound world title challenger Devis Boschiero in his first career 12-round bout last July.

The fights are on FS1 at 9 p.m. EST. Watch them with me.
