MLB odds:  The Texas Rangers have seen a sharp drop in their pitching effectiveness and that has put their playoff aspirations in serious doubt as their reign as one of the top teams in the American League is clearly over.  The Los Angeles Angels have seen solid improvement both at the plate and on the mound to emerge as a top contender in the American League West trailing only the first place Oakland A’s.  The Los Angeles Angels will host the Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium of Anaheim with coverage on ESPN starting at 10:05 PM ET.

Resurgent Angels Emerge

After two years as an underachieving overlay that was among the biggest losers on the betting board the Angels improved to 20-14 at home and were +305 units on the run line with just 13 out of their 34 home games going under the total.  LA ranked 4th for run production and 17th for earned run average.

Rangers Slip

The Rangers were 19-16 on the road but a disastrous -1015 units on the run line with just 13 out of their 35 away games going under the total.  Texas ranked 29th for staff earned run average and 30th for quality starts.

The Pick

Heading into this series the Texas Rangers have won 16 out of their last 20 games against the Los Angeles Angels with just 5 out of those 20 games going under the total.  Texas won 2 out of the first 3 meetings against the Angels this year.  The Rangers have won 10 out of their last 14 games at Angels Stadium with just 5 out of the last 19 games between the Rangers and Angels at Anaheim going under the total.  We’ll go with the Angels run line and over the total!
