Providence Friars at Georgetown Hoyas Free Prediction

In the Friars’ last game, they were topped by the Villanova Wildcats, 65-59. Villanova’s 0.520 effective field goal percentage was their biggest strength over Providence, who had a mark of 0.397. The Wildcats’ mark was below their season average of 0.539, while the Friars’ was below their season average of 0.509. Makai Ashton-Langford led Providence in scoring with 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting.

The Hoyas lost to the Xavier Musketeers in their last outing, 81-75. Xavier’s 5.2 turnover percentage was their biggest advantage over Georgetown, who had a rate of 9.6. The Musketeers’ mark was better than their season average of 17.7. With 27 points on 11-for-17 shooting, Jessie Govan was the top scorer from either team.

This contest should be a battle of opposite tempos. Georgetown has preferred a fast-breaking style of play (20th in possessions per game), while Providence has been more half-court-oriented (244th in possessions per game).

After the Friars won both contests against the Hoyas last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. In the most recent matchup, Providence won 74-69. Providence had a much better turnover percentage (5.6 vs. 14.1). Georgetown, meanwhile, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (29.7 vs. 13.5).
