It’s not often that a pitcher hits a home run, and it’s even less often that he does it in a game in which he’s also dominating on the mound. But the Mets’ Zach Wheeler pulled off that rare combo against the Phillies on Tuesday night. Speaking of rare, did you see what Javier Baez did to beat out an infield single? The top social media posts of the day from Major League Baseball are on the way.
- Zack Wheeler became the first player this season to hit 100 mph with a pitch and 100 mph exit velocity on a swing in the same game. Pretty good stuff.
- Javier Baez, the human juke button. Seriously, who does this?
- Kevin Pillar returned Tuesday night to Toronto, where the fans clearly still love him no matter what uniform he wears.
- And finally, for our blooper reel of the day. Great path to the ball from the Mariners’ Mallex Smith, he’s in line for a great play, and then, see, well, what had happened was…

Zack Wheeler is the first pitcher this season to join the 100/100 club. Throw a pitch 100 MPH+ and hit a ball 100 MPH+.
