Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers Free Preview 08/31/18

The Arizona Diamondbacks will take on their divisional rival Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Fox Sports Arizona will be televising the matchup and the game gets underway at 10:10 p.m. ET.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Odds

Oddsmakers have listed Los Angeles (-120) as the favorite over Arizona (+110). Bettors can wager on the game’s total with odds sitting at +100 for over 7.5 runs and -120 for under 7.5. Bettors can also wager on the game’s runline with the odds coming in at Diamondbacks +1.5 runs (-190) and Dodgers -1.5 runs (+165).

The Diamondbacks have gone 74-60 SU this year and are 66-67 against the spread (ATS). The team hasn’t moved the needle a whole lot this year, gaining 2.5 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 4.0 units ATS. The Dodgers will turn to lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu (4-1, 2.18 ERA), who’s got 54 punchouts and 12 walks as well as a 1.01 WHIP. Ryu is 0-0 with four strikeouts and a 5.40 ERA across two starts against Arizona this year.

As a unit, Los Angeles’ pitching staff has given up 3.8 runs per game overall in 2018. The team’s starting pitching staff has an ERA of 3.18, a WHIP of 1.13 and a strikeouts-per-nine of 9.5. The bullpen has a 3.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 9.6 K/9. In 58 games against NL West foes, Dodgers starters have an ERA of 3.06 and the bullpen’s ERA is 3.78.

Los Angeles’ offense is putting up 4.7 runs per outing, including 4.6 per game against divisional foes and 4.8 per game over its last five. The team has hit .277/.347/.480 over its last five matchups and is 4-1 SU during that span.

First baseman Cody Bellinger and right fielder Chris Taylor have led the Dodgers’ offense this year. Bellinger is slashing .260/.341/.471 with 21 home runs, 63 RBIs and 74 runs scored, and Taylor’s line sits at .243/.318/.427 with 14 homers, 54 RBIs and 69 runs.

In the other dugout, Arizona’s pitchers have allowed 3.8 runs per game and its starters own a 3.75 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 9.31 K/9. The bullpen has managed a solid ERA of just 3.09, along with a WHIP of 1.22.

Diamondbacks hitters have slashed .239/.317/.403 on their way to 4.4 runs scored per game this season, including 4.9 runs per game against divisional foes and 2.2 per game over the team’s last five outings (3-2 SU).

Arizona’s offensive production has been fueled by first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and left fielder David Peralta, who have combined to drive in 150 runs. Goldschmidt is slashing .291/.395/.541 with 30 home runs, 76 RBIs and 82 runs scored, while Peralta is hitting .303/.360/.540 with 26 homers, 74 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
