Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes Suffers Serious Thursday Night Football Injury

Ironically, our final post on Thursday late afternoon was regarding Patrick Mahomes possibly being more seriously injured than the Kansas City Chiefs were letting on. However, that injury dealt with his ankle.

Then, on Thursday night football; Mahomes did not emerge from a pile of bodies unscathed after a 4th and 1 quarterback sneak. While it couldn’t be clearly told what happened, Mahomes appeared to hurt one of his legs. Moreover, as he got up and walked away it was clear that he was in extreme pain. The injury appeared to be to his knee – and today that is the official report. Obviously, a recovery timeline for his return is not yet clearly stated but widely speculated.

The injury is being classified as a dislocated kneecap. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Mahomes will have an MRI in the near future which will tell the story on further damage.

Mahomes tried to calm down fans of the Chiefs and the NFL with an encouraging tweet. Furthermore, this is another reason to love the kid. He kept it short and sweet.

Lastly, the take home message here is that he’s not just one of the greatest things to ever chance his way into Kansas City Chiefs football. Without question, Mahomes is one of the best things to ever chance his way into the game of football.

When an injury like this happens to a young athlete who is the greatest of his kind – everyone shakes their head. Fans, fantasy owners, everyone is affected because we love watching someone with unique ability like Mahomes. Furthermore, the fact that Mahomes is a quality young man makes it tougher to swallow.

Personally, he’s one of the reasons I turn on the television on Sunday. For a guy with two young children who has little time to watch on Sunday afternoon – I make Mahomes appointment viewing. I imagine you’re no different. Truly, he’s that special.

I am keeping my fingers crossed, as we all should for positive news regarding this situation.
