Scoring Expected to be Tough

The U.S. Open rarely sees good scores and that should be no exception this week.  The winning score in six of the last nine Opens has been even par or higher.  This year’s course is Pinehurst #2 which means greens that actually repel shots.  Scrambling is going to be the name of the game at this year’s U.S. Open.  Players that can bump and run; use lofted wedges with a lot of spin and find their way out of trouble should do well. One of those players with that skill set would be Phil Mickelson but he has not played well this year so taking him to win would be a risk.

One of the best scramblers on the PGA Tour is Matt Kuchar so you may want to keep an on him next week and his U.S. Open odds at 20-1 are attractive.
