Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Prediction

The last time the Raptors played, they blew out the New York Knicks, 132-106. The Raptors had an absurd offensive rebounding percentage of 32.6 (above their season average of 22.8) and had an effective field goal percentage of 0.591 (above their season average of 0.536). Toronto rallied around Kyle Lowry, who recorded 16 points and seven assists.

The Nets lost big to the Philadelphia 76ers in their last contest, 120-97. Philadelphia’s turnover percentage was their biggest strength over Brooklyn. The 76ers had a rate of 8.0 (better than their season average of 14.8), while the Nets posted a mark of 15.9 (above the 12.2 mark opponents have averaged against Philadelphia this season). Brooklyn’s D’Angelo Russell had a good performance, leading both teams in scoring with 26 points on 9-for-17 shooting.

The inefficient offense of Brooklyn (24th in the league with an offensive efficiency of 104.4) will battle against the stingy defense of Toronto (fourth in the league with a defensive efficiency of 103.2). The Raptors figure to have the edge on that side of the ball. Furthermore, the Raptors rank fourth in turnover percentage (12.6 percent), while the Nets rank 30th in opponents’ turnover percentage (11.9 percent).

Toronto comes into the game with records of 49-17 straight up (SU) and 38-28 against the spread (ATS). Of the Raptors’ 66 games, 34 have finished over the projected point total.

Brooklyn is 38-28-1 ATS, despite being 21-46 SU. Vegas tends to place the total high when the Nets are involved, as 37 of their 66 games have gone under the O/U total.

Jonas Valanciunas has averaged 14.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks over the last five games for Toronto.

The Raptors have emerged victorious in both matchups against the Nets this year, including a close 114-113 victory the last time these teams met. Toronto was unable to cover as a 7.5-point favorite and the game finished with a total of 227 points, which was 9.5 points above the projected point total of 217.5 points. Toronto had a better effective field goal percentage (0.475 vs. 0.450). Brooklyn, meanwhile, had a better offensive rebounding percentage (20.4 vs. 15.4). Spencer Dinwiddie had a standout performance in the game, producing 31 points, eight assists and five rebounds.
