Golf Undigested

The Golf Undigested Podcast with Clark Burroughs, a former PGA Tour player and proud Ohio State Buckeye, dishes out his latest news and musings in the world of golf. For all the latest golf odds and predictions, never miss an episode of Burroughs’ insightful advice and hilarious observations into the greatest game of all, GOLF!

Burroughs starts Podcast #68 by talking about the FedEx Cup Playoffs, how it works and who has the best shot to win it. He also talks about how Tiger Woods called out Jordan Spieth for using a dietary supplement.

Our host talks about this week’s events on all three tours. First up, the BMW Championship that has a reduced 70-man field. Players will be jockeying to get into the top 30 in the standings to qualify for next week’s season finale at East Lake. There is also a fight to get into the top five – Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson are locks but the last two spots are up for grabs.

Across the pond, the European Tour heads to The Netherlands for the KLM Open and the PGA Champions Tour travels north of the border to Canada for the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship.

Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record stands at 110-78-12 for the year and 6-4 last week. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.

Should be another exciting week in golf!

VALUE PICKS

Patrick Cantlay +3500 sits at No. 41 in the FedEx Cup standings and needs a great finish to creep into the top 30 and advance to East Lake. The former UCLA star has only played 11 events this year and seems to play well every time he tees it up. I think Cantlay contends this week, churning out a great, clutch performance and advances to the season’s finale.

Ollie Schniederjans +12500 also needs a great week to advance. The former No. 1 ranked amateur is on a free roll this week. He has nothing to lose and can pretty much go for broke. He played college golf at Georgia Tech which is where the TOUR Championship is next week. It would be a great story to see him advance and he’s got the talent to do just that. At +12500, he’s worth a play in all formats.

MATCHUPS of the WEEK (Odds courtesy of BetDSI)

Jordan Spieth -160 vs. Justin Thomas +140

Arguably the two best players in the world and best friends as well. This matchup should be closer to even either way. Thomas has won five times this year and is playing the best golf in his young career. Spieth is a model of consistency and also on top of his game. Two even players, but not according to the line. I like Thomas and the plus money.

Kevin Chappell PK vs. Phil Mickelson PK

Both players made the President’s Cup team – Chappell finished tenth in the standings to qualify and Mickelson was a captain’s pick. Lefty has more to prove and will free wheel it and when he does that, look out! Mickelson came up with a clutch performance in his last start and the mojo will carry over to this week. I’m taking Mickelson.
