As the 2026 NFL offseason begins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face several key decisions that will shape their roster for the upcoming season. The team, which made a competitive push during the regular season, now confronts the challenge of balancing veteran leadership with future roster development.

Among the most pressing issues is the status of wide receiver Mike Evans. Evans, one of the greatest offensive players in franchise history, is set to enter free agency. His consistent performance and leadership have made him a cornerstone of Tampa Bay’s offense. The Buccaneers must determine whether to re-sign him to a new contract or begin preparing for a future without his production on the outside.

Another veteran whose status remains uncertain is linebacker Lavonte David. Like Evans, David has been integral to the team’s identity, contributing significantly on defense over the years. Tampa Bay must decide whether to retain his services or consider younger options at the position.

Beyond individual player decisions, the Buccaneers have several broader roster needs that must be addressed. On the offensive side, depth at the offensive line positions remains a concern, particularly after injuries impacted protection throughout the season. Strengthening this unit will be crucial to both the passing and rushing attacks moving forward.

Defensively, the team needs to evaluate its pass rush capabilities. Although there were flashes of success, the lack of consistent pressure hurt them in key moments. Adding depth and rotational support at the edge rusher position could bolster the defense.

Lastly, quarterback remains an ongoing focus. While the current starter showed improvement, the team must continue to evaluate its long-term plan at the position, whether through development or potential additions via the draft or free agency.

Overall, the Buccaneers enter the offseason with important decisions to make regarding veteran leadership and multiple position groups. How they manage these choices will play a critical role in their competitiveness in the 2026 season and beyond.
