The Detroit Tigers will host the Boston Red Sox

MLB Lines:  The Boston Red Sox and their backers have been paying the price for their incredible and surprise World Series run over last year as they have been crashing back down to earth as one of the top money losers on the board for 2014.  The Detroit Tigers continue to enjoy playing in the mediocre American League Central Division where there are no threats to their supremacy.  The Detroit Tigers will host the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night at Comerica Park with coverage on FOX starting at 7:15 PM ET.  The Probable starting pitchers are right hander John Lackey for Boston and right hander Max Scherzer for Detroit.

In the Red Sox

Boston was playing better lately but still barely out of the basement in the American League East.  The Red Sox ranked 18th for run production and 25th for home runs while the pitching staff ranked 14th for earned run average.  The BoSox were 12-14 on the road and went over the total in just 22 out of 58 games.  Boston had a 7 game winning streak before losing the next 2 games that followed.

Detroit by Default

The Tigers were just 14-12 at home and were in the red despite being in first place in that decrepit AL Central.  The Tigers ranked 6th for run production but 17th for earned run average.

The Pick

The Tigers have had a strong edge over Boston at Comerica Park with 8 wins over the Red Sox in their last 11 home games with just 2 out of the last 9 games at Comerica Park between the Red Sox and Tigers going under the total.  Detroit is the call!
