No Preseason for Antonio Brown, No Elliott Extension Yet and More

There will be no preseason for Antonio Brown. The star wide receiver and recent acquisition by the Oakland Raiders will be held out of all the team’s preseason games according to head coach Jon Gruden. Expect to see more of this as the Los Angeles Rams proved last season that holding stars out of exhibition action does little to hurt your team and only keeps your best players healthy.

Jones feels no pressure to work on Ezekiel Elliott extension

Make no mistake. The Dallas Cowboys aren’t the New York Giants and there’s absolutely no chance star running back Ezekiel Elliott suits up for another team anytime soon. Still, after tabbing Elliott’s fifth-year rookie option, team vice president Stephen Jones feels no real sense of urgency in getting the running back under a long term deal.

Bears kicking game still in trouble

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy might just have to go back to the drawing board. After Cody Parkey missed what should have been a game-winning field goal in the team’s Wild Card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the search has been on for a kicker who can perform in clutch situations. In an eight-man competition that included John Baron II, Chris Blewitt, Elliott Fry, and Redford Jones, the kickers completed 2-of-8 from 43 yards out.
